Fat

I never said calories in/calories out was a good weight loss method.

I’m saying the science behind it is pretty well established by now and can’t be denied.

Yes you can lose weight on a mcdonalds/all junk food diet if you are in a calorie deficit. Whether or not this is good for your overall health and is effective in managing satiety is another story altogether.

@jessica2 "I'd like to see this guy in the video today actually. (Side note: I looked him up and he actually does look healthy lol). Note though: the video said he also ate "protein shakes and vegetables". It Really just proves my point that calorie counting necessarily limits your carbs as well. The video never says how many cakes/snacks he ate a day. He put a limit on his food (and therefore carbs) though, that's clear. It still doesn't change the fact that a calorie as a metric for controlling human body metabolism is for the vast majority of people quite useless."

I said I will say if for a last time because this debate with anti carb regiligous people is waste of time. YOU ARE WRONG. Basically all sport people when they start dieting to get in shape and/or to fit into weight category they start to cut calories from fats not carbs. They need carbs/sugars for energy/muscle and liver glycogen, but they for sure don't need to eat extra fats from fatty cuts of meats, full fat dairy etc.. They just keep some good fats for health like egg yolks, some wild fatty fish etc.. You are simply brainwashed from some people for some reason that people are fat just because of carbs. That is laughable. Go say this to people in Africa, Asia etc.. where they all are skin and bones and eat nothing but white rice, potatoes, corn, millet etc..

Maybe the best example of all that "sugar doesn't make you fat" is durian rider. Just look up his videos. He is eating like 15-20 years low fat high carb vegan diet mainly from fruits, rice, drinks like sprite, white sugar etc. and again the reason why he is skin and bones(not now because he is taking steroids) is because it is basically impossible to overeat calories with basically zero fat sugar diet.. Now his diet is not healthy. We are talking about weight loss only and calories...

@jiri

You’re forgetting about insulin resistance though, which affects so many people these days.

@jessica2 again and again you simply don't get it.. Even if you don't exercise or move your body much you will not gain weight IF YOU DON'T CONSUME CALORIE EXCESS... I am done in this topic hehe.. 🙂

@jiri I do in fact "get" the calorie arguments, I just don't agree. 🙂

As with many things in life... people can reach wildly differing conclusions with the same information.
In general if someone is interested in my reasoning they can have it. But I'm not out to change anyone's mind. Surprised you held out in this thread this long.

@jessica2 one obese "keto promoter" is Jimmy More.

On his YT channel you can see his tummy and boobs. His arms and legs are thin.

If search for his many books you'll get amazed.

Enjoy.

@donald I'm interested and would like to hear.

Oh I'm sorry, I meant in general. Not this specific topic. I'll type something down quickly.

It's mostly personal experiences though. I started getting fat, didn't like that. Found keto youtube doctors and their advice worked for me. Never did calorie counting and never will. That's OCD behaviour and I don't believe it's healthy or makes one happy. Measuring everything out, keeping track. Imagine all the stress.

So keto made me able to do 1 meal a day after my keto period because my carb cravings / food cravings had basically gone away. And the insulin spikes and insulin resistance as a cell protection mechanism makes a lot of sense to me and fits my personal experience.
Whether or not it's less calories or insulin spikes / insulin resistance, I don't really care. A high carb diet with lots of insulin spikes will give me insane hunger cravings in between food. So even if it was caloric restriction that made me lose weight, and not insulin spikes. It's unsustainable for me with a standard high carb diet with many meals. Intermittent fasting or a ketogenic diet that increases satiety does not have this issue and I can easily go without food for 24h-36h if I want.
Same for my parents, if they notice they are gaining weight they go 16:8 time restricted eating and they go back to a healthy weight. That is literally all they change, no more snacking / beer / calories after dinner. They had issues in the past with caloric restriction, but time restricted eating gives them no problems at all and is very easy for them to stick to.

Interesting video by Dr. Mobeen Syed about a month ago on insulin resistance, diabetes, hyperinsulinemia and common food additives. Also about how reactive oxygen species (inflammation) creates hyperinsulinemia.

Body builders have been mentioned here and I want to say that the ones I know (both male and female) all either end up overweight or sick.  Competitive body building isn't really that good for you, IMO.    One person I knew who was into body building even became type 1 diabetic.

In my humble opinion, some of that "cutting mentality" hovers very close to anorexia or bulimia.  Preparing for a competition is a prolonged purge often followed by a prolonged binge.

Have you ever seen how sick people get when they go on survivor and are forced to fast?  Are they forcing open  fat cells full of toxins like VA and others?

Not to mention the toxic tanners the body builders slather all over their bodies.  yikes.

Their knowledge of calorie counting sure doesn't seem to help them in the long run.

Personally I'd rather build whatever muscle my body is inclined to build...doing things that are productive, and eating to my appetite while doing so.   I think it is better for the soul and the metabolism.

I've been very sick with my toxicity, and I consider obese people to be the at same level of sickness that I was at, only showing it differently.  IMO obese people need to de-toxify, not calorie count.

‘IMO obese people need to de-toxify, not calorie count.’ @lil-chick I totally agree. This has been my experience too. I can’t understand why it’s not talked about more. Fat is a great toxicity sink.

@jessica2  the guy was on keto and getting sick more and more. Now he lost 70kg or something on high sugar diet..

Btw I am sure that you know about Dr.Kempner and his extreme sugar diet for obese diabetes people. Would love to hear your explanation how they could fix their issues by eating nothing but white rice, white sugar, fruit and fruit juice?

I am not anti keto or pro high sugar low fat diets. I am just trying to show you that insulin and/or carbs alone are not a problem.. They are only additional problem if there is excess of calories especially from fat...
