Labs/Tests
Quote from Jiří on August 1, 2020, 7:58 am@mattia I asked you 100% times you didn't answered. Do you have amalgams? Or why you have issues with mercury? I think mciro dosing ALA every 3 hours as a part of good protocol is ok, but only for people that feel somewhat healthy. That means the body can handle that detox. If you already feel bad and start taking heavy duty detox stuff you can do much more harm then good.. Like I said start with the minerals and after 3-4 months do retesting and also do copper with ceruloplasmin test ideally now and other test in the same time like hair test.. I have issues with copper. because I had really bad diet as a kid low in all important micronutrients, protein as well. So I couldn't handle that amount of mercury from amalgams in age 13 or so.. Once you are depleted with things like zinc, selenium, molybdenum etc. and toxic in mercury. The body can't handle copper metabolism anymore. + I was stupid in 20-24yo taking steroids without antiestrogens= high estrogen will retain copper in the body... Once you have too much copper it will constantly stimulate adrenals and depleting all important micronutrients needed as co factors for functioning copper metabolism.. On top of that accutane, Ray peat diet, Morley Robbins diet, Weston Price diet and here I am... 😀
@tim-2 I was never eating more than 100g of buckwheat a day. I didn't have excessive intake of copper. It doesn't need to be if your bile production, ceruloplasmin production doesn't work. It just takes longer to accumulate.. Btw I am not saying that eating more copper will make you copper toxic. Like I said it is a lot like vit A. Some people have really good metabolism, everything working right and they can eat crazy amounts with no issues..

They are just saying that vA and copper are inversely related in many situations. I don't really know what to make of it.

Quote from Jiří on August 2, 2020, 5:27 am@tim-2 there are also studies where vit A can increase ceruloplasmin. That is also the reason why I was taking retinol palmitate.. But who knows if that increase of ceruloplasmin isn't just some stress reaction...

Yeah I think excess vA can probably elevate copper a lot of the time.
Have you looked for Kayser–Fleischer rings or ruled out Wilson's disease?

Quote from lil chick on August 3, 2020, 9:03 amQuote from Jiří on August 2, 2020, 7:21 am@tim-2 don't have copper rings in eyes..
Oddly enough I was looking at this area the other day (the ring around the iris).
With lowered-VA, the whites of my eyes have become whiter, and I was checking that out. While I was at it, I wast thinking that the the iris ring is starting to be a lighter color. Then I saw your comment. However, it has never been brownish. Always sort of a navy/black.
Ourania also said her eyes seem lighter. The iris ring can be a big part of the intensity of eye color. Interesting.

Quote from mmb3664 on August 4, 2020, 6:26 pmJust wanted to post some new labs I got recently. I tested many, many things, but some values worth sharing are vitamin D, cholesterol (total), PTH and ceruloplasmin.
My vitamin D is low at 26.7 ng/mL. The lab ranges are 30 - 100. I have not taken a vitamin D supplement since the end of 2017 and have been spending a lot of time outside this year trying to get vitamin D naturally. Looks like I still have work to do there.
My total cholesterol dropped from the last time I got it tested (late 2017). In 2017, it was 207 mg/dL and this year it is 144 mg/dL. Lab ranges are 100 - 199 mg/dL. I can't attribute this solely to vA detox, as my diet changed a lot since 2017 when I was eating cheese, eggs and drinking milk in addition to eating meat more frequently. Still, it is a data point for future comparison.
I expected PTH to be messed up due to low vitamin D, messed up calcium metabolism due to vA detox and a high intake of phosphorus over the past 1.5 years of eating rice, grains and beans. Surprisingly, my PTH is suppressed despite low vitamin D levels. My value is 18 pg/mL and lab ranges are 15-65 pg/mL.
My ceruloplasmin was low the last time I tested it in 2018...16.9 mg/dL with the lab ranges of 19 - 39 mg/dL. I tend to run low on copper and was hoping for some improvement after being on the vA detox for 1.5 years. No luck. :/ My ceruloplasmin this time was 16.4 mg/dL.
I am looking forward to comparing these numbers to the next set of tests that I plan to get, likely a year from now. I want to see how vA detox affects these numbers as well as other things I got tested such as liver health, kidney health, thyroid health, etc.
If anyone else has done similar testing, I am curious to see if there is a trend or if it is more individualistic.
