Lactoferrin

PreviousPage 5 of 8Next

@christian Another decent night sleep here and skin behaving well.

Yep that is quite the modern pharma cocktail you were on, here's hope it can all be reversed!

No I have not had success with other gut supplements in the past, ABx, anti-fungals, Cascara, Pau D'arco, psyllium, AC, water fasting, etc... but would add that most were tested in the pre low VA days.  Probably would be more helpful now.

Tested psyllium recently in the last 6 months, and it gave me insomnia, that lasted a few days after stopping.   Used AC a lot during the last 3 years and it doesn't give good or bad effects, it seems kind of benign in my system.

@orion

Great to hear about the good effects on sleep. Yeah, you say it, there is a chance it can be reversed. I'm hopeful.

That's what I'm wondering too—the effects of supplements might be different once the body is more depleted of VA. Well, I'll keep my ears open, there's always something to try. 🙂

Isn't it odd that the body reacts strongly to something simple like psyllium husk even days after its usage?

@christian My thoughts on psyllium was it felt like being on high dose cortef for the sleep side effects, it either bound up to many calories or slowed digestion so no energy was available.  The insomnia felt just like when I tested with taking cortisone, so stress hormones where high, probably keeping blood sugar leveled.  But ya I stopped it on Monday and sleep went back to my what I call normal on Thursday night.

Should mention my sleep does better right now, when I keep the soluble fiber intake steady, but very low in volume.  fiber does mess with my sleep, either via less energy available or gut to irritated or maybe too much retinoic acid created, then conjugated for excretion.  Or combo of everything!

So what’s the verdict? Is lactoferrin good or not?

@orion I see why you would be cautious with additional supplements when you get such strong reactions to some of them.

Mushrooms are stable for me. Occasionally I'll have cucumber, radish, and turnip cabbage. I'll also do better with lower fiber. Beans don't add any benefit at the moment but actually are taxing on digestion.

lactoferrin is good. It takes iron from pathogens and delivers it into you cells where it can be used by the body to make red blood cells.. If you want increase iron because you are anemic woman for example lactoferrin is good because it has more iron in it. If you don't want that additional iron from it apolactoferrin is better.. I wouldn't take it long term. But here and there in 1-2 month cycles why not..

I have been taking lactoferrin for about half a year and I must say I like it.

I feel like it has done some great thing for my ability to tolerate grains and also i dont feel like going a buy a bottle of wine anymore at all.. and it was so easy to stop my nicotine gum addiction last summer. I just did it, full stop. All of a sudden I felt strongly I did not want it anymore, and throw all my gums that I still had, in the trash. Crazy! I have tried to stop the nuicotine gum before and it was really hard.

It must be the lactoferrin. It does something with my body, something good.

Anybody else who have tried it out, what did you experience?

I have also not been sick once since taking it, had covid last winter (2 days high fever and vomited once and that was it, easy) and after that nothing more. Coworkers com sick to work often and cough and we dont keep any distance and viruses just fly around and no one cares and i have not been sick from that even if very much work and stress. I am a waitress.

Maybe lactoferrin also helps the immune system. I am giving my dad and mom the same lactoferrin now. The like it so far.

It is a finnish brand,m with 177 mg bovine lactoferrin and 80 mg ascorbic acid/ 1 capsule / day.. I would not have wanted the AC but it was the only brand they had here and it still seem to have done some good 🙂

Lactoferrin affects me very strongly. Dr. Smith has a video where he describes the detoxing symptoms that can occur from it, what he calls the Lactoferrin Cold. And I most definitely have had that. I still can only take a very small amount of it and have to take breaks in between. I'm quite sure it provokes bile dumps. He says its primary benefit is to help repair the leaky liver. So I'm on low slow dose of it.

So, it sounds like you recommend lactoferrin? I’m curious to try it. I wish dr smith would sell sample packs of 4-5 pills. Since it sounds like that could last a while when you’re just starting out.
