Quote from leap7 on July 9, 2020, 10:30 pm@lil-chick Thank you for your response! Melatonin works like a charm for me, but I don't want to become dependent on it. I only use it on nights when I have to get up early. Even when I do manage to have a full night of sleep at normal hours, I somehow always return to my abnormal sleep schedule.
That's an interesting thought about shrunken tissues needing to regrow. Can you elaborate?

Quote from Jiří on July 9, 2020, 11:39 pm@tim-2 I think it is funny how they need names for everything like "DSPS" to look smart or important lol.. It is well known for decades or even centuries that circadian rhythm is very important. That you should go sleep with the sun and wake up with the sun. Most people due to job or just modern unhealthy life style have disturbed circadian rhythm. So their hormones are all over the place. Therefore they they can't sleep etc.. You can have disturbed circadian rhythm and therefore you can't sleep or you can have insomnia due to many reasons. From high stress to drug, meds use etc.. Simply insomnia means insomnia. It doesn't matter if it is due to calorie deficit = high stress or due to disturbed circadian rhythm because you are working night shifts or play video games to 3 am every day..

For me, I see it intuitively in things like my wrists looking smaller, my gums receding, the center of my face being tight, my teeth being crooked, my shoulders wanting to bow forward. I think the end game of it is like the mother goose rhyme: "there was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile". Before Grant, (BG, LOL) I was even wondering why my shoe size had gone down a size from 20 years ago. I think it has to do with many things. Calcium getting taken out of where it should be, and stem cells that are unhappy and just plain inflammation making replacement of cells uneasy. I posted a pic of the singer "Seal" on my log once because I think the tightness in his face shows this effect. (he is a person in remission from lupus)
this thread touched on it, I think:

Quote from leap7 on July 14, 2020, 1:47 amA few more things: My allergies are mostly gone. This could be because spring is over or because I'm progressing in my detox. I do get some days when my allergies return, but I noticed that this occurs mostly on days when I get to sleep at normal hours (11 pm - 8 am). So, although I get an early start to my day and hope to be more productive, my allergies always make it difficult to get work done. I get that stuffy feeling in my head.
In the times when I have "cheated" on the diet with dairy or cheese, I would sometimes notice a stinging/dry feeling in my eyes shortly afterward. Before I started the detox, I would experience dry eyes only when focusing for a long time on a screen. It wasn't much of a problem for me otherwise, but I do think it was getting worse. However, very shortly into the detox, I noticed that even when I had to stare at a computer screen for a long time, my eyes no longer felt dry.
Before the detox, the backs of my hands would always get dry, peel, and be painful in the winter. I started the detox in January when it was still cold. I noticed that the skin on the backs of my hands stayed smooth, and they would only get a bit dry/peely when I would "cheat" with dairy.
The muscle knots on my back have been bothering me for a few weeks now. I have been trying to get rid of them with self-massage with a ball, and I've also tried topical magnesium, magnesium chloride baths, and icing, but nothing has worked so far. I am wondering if I should supplement calcium? I have been planning on making and consuming eggshell calcium. I think that out of magnesium, calcium, and potassium, calcium could be the only thing I could be not getting enough of. I am however hesitant about supplementing because I hear stories about calcium going into the wrong places... Or maybe this detox of A is messing up the balance of everything. I don't know. I have never experienced muscle knots in my back or anywhere else on my body prior to this instance, so I can't help but think that it's somehow connected to the detox.

@leap7 small amounts of calcium carbonate and sub 1000iu doses of vitamin D, along with ball and foam roller helped me get rid of most of my muscle knots. I am wary of supplemented Calcium and D, but tiny amount with sunbathing seems to have helped.
The first 6-12 months of detox, I was getting knots in shoulders, back and legs from working out, never happened before lowered VA dieting.

Quote from Jiří on July 14, 2020, 11:16 am@orion calcium carbonate is crazy alkaline. It can neutralize stomach acid like a lot and you need stomach acid to absorb that calcium... Calcium citrate should be the best form of calcium supplement..

Quote from leap7 on July 14, 2020, 4:18 pm@orion Thank you that's really helpful to know. Just read through your log. I'm assuming that you no longer get these muscle knots? And I'm curious how much calcium carbonate you were taking?

Quote from Orion on July 14, 2020, 4:26 pm@leap7 Just using 500mg calcium carbonate with breakfast every other day. I don't have any digestion issues, but there are other forms like @jiri mentioned, if that causes issue.
During and before detox, used to get lots on knots in my neck too just from sleeping. I think foam rolling and stretching are helpful for this too. So far so good, no major knot issues!

Quote from Jiří on July 15, 2020, 12:46 am@orion Do you take magnesium with B1? For now I was using magnesium chloride mixed with water for drinking or transdermal use.( @leap7 that is the best for tight/stiff muscles. Relaxing them with transdermal magnesium and deep tissue masage with roller and hard baseball ball.. I always had crazy "muscle knots" everywhere when I was working hard jobs like in factory or in warehouse. You just need to relax them and massage them hard + you need to hydrate well. So water with all electrolytes + some sugars and drink a lot. When I work hard and sweat I drink sweetened mineral water with some salt because you lose a lot of sodium in sweat and mineral water is low in it..) When I use the rest of my magnesium chloride(I have like 2kg left heh..) I will try magnesium bicarbonate water. You just need magnesium hydroxide which is badly absorbable, but by mixing it into carbonated water you will create magnesium bicarbonate, which is absorbed much better.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sdx4OGGkyI
