@janelle525 thank you for that suggestion! I have never even heard of this until now. I have had some constipation issues, so this may be a good option for me. I go to the restroom pretty well as long as I'm eating lots of fiber, but eating nothing but beef and potatoes and rice ain't gonna cut it for me lol

  1. @r-2 i will take that into consideration.... I've been keeping a food diary, but I try to eat such a variety of foods, it would be hard for me to pinpoint what would aggravate me. I KNOW that egg did it for me Thursday night. I'm just not ready for that yet.  So you think maybe I should cool it with the ground flax seed? I usually eat 1-2 teaspoons a day. I'm just worried about getting other deficiencies. Now I'm scared to take supplements because I don't know what I need, and i don't want to overdo it on something else.

yes I would. Definitely stay away from gut irritants during first 2-3 years of dumping . Seeds is a total no no for me . The best diet is the diet you feel good with when your health is a total mess . Boiled meat is the best food for humans . I am not proposing a carnivore diet here.  But I believe it is least damaging to humans specially to gut .

Rregarding supplements the one that really helped me was Zinc  . Zinc Sulphate take 50 mg and see how you feel next morning , if you feel good , keep taking it   and once the effect wears off stop it and keep the store high with red meat .

Tourine -- didnt feel anything with it
Bvitamins --- Dont think you need. only if you are deficient
calcium -- NO
Vitamin C -- no. harm taking

I would say from reading here that beans are magic for some here and not for others.   I'm not a person who "needs" fiber, but have quite an addiction to peanuts that I can't really explain in any other way except my body really WANTS THEM.

I had the head pressure and I agree with r about how it does go away "pretty early" on.    (unlike skin issues, for instance, which are kind of slow!  or gums!).  I think I had my last episode of really bad headache about 1 year in.    It's like a miracle because I had been making my life smaller due to intense headaches (and also vomiting episodes which also went away).    I still occasionally feel minor head pressure, like a small hangover, and I think it is when I "stir things up" because even if you've been at this a long time there will be still be VA lurking deep in your tissues and very slowly coming out.   (I'm at 3.75 years of medium-low).

In my mind slowly is how you want things to come out.   I'm fine with medium low, and I'm happy with my slow progress, but again, everyone is different.

It appears that molybdenum is a nutrient that I might run down in detox and legumes also help with that, so I wonder if that is one of the reasons legumes are popular here.

I occasionally also take b-spectrum vitamin *when I feel run down, like after a big stress* and usually take evening primrose oil with it because Jessica 2 has made a pretty good case for this being helpful to things like skin and gums.

OK so you are 3.75 years in, and have had the head pressure. I have all kinds of weird head pressure,  dizzy spells, and spells where my head feels really weird and heavy, and also a really unpleasant "buzzing" sensation when I talk when this shit is really acting up (it's extremely unsettling). All of my head symptoms definitely get better on low A, and when I've tested it, they absolutely flare up horribly. Anyway, so the first year, I should be very strict on the diet... is it okay to eat sweets? And what is wrong with ham?? I can't figure out why no one's eating ham. I had some today for Christmas and I did great. Is ham bad for detox?  I think I feel pretty good on beans. I definitely need fiber lol

And one more thing, I feel foolish for asking. I know I'm not ready yet, but in the future, will I be able to drink again? It was very much a part of my partner and mine's life. Our friends... Social situations are definitely easier for me....  I hardly leave the house since this happened anyway. But I'm only 46 days in and feel a lot better just in the last week alone. Like I'm finally having some good days, and it is thanks to reducing vitamin A (no thanks to "doctors" at all).

After 5yrs of low VA, recovering from indulging alcohol is way easier than before.  I would say avoid for now, until you feel you have reached at better recovery point, but would say you will be able to again in the future without issue.

  1. @orion Thank you for your reply. This is a relief to hear! I'm okay with refraining for now, but I do miss my evening glass of wine sometimes or having maragaritas during an outing with friends. I'll live 🙂 I'm just grateful I feel somewhat better than I did, so I guess giving up the alcohol is a small price.

I have been drinking practically nothing since last spring, and now i indulged a little in Port wine at the Christmas table, also some porter beer. I did not feel anything and I was surprised how well I tolerated it! Not continuing that habit though, it was just Christmas, because I decided to eat and drink anything a couple days. I did not want to attend Christmas party at all here in my parents house but decided to just make it through, fullheartedly..(helping my mom with the food and dishes etc) Now its over, I am alive, a little tired but I guess I will be fine 😉 next Christmas I really need to go for a trip somewhere in the wilderness where no one parties.

@rebecca3 I have used alcohol throughout my low VA journey, and do not think it caused me any serious setbacks, usually have a couple drinks every second weekend, but will say its never been a daily staple for me.  Just have to go by how you feel, but I would think an occasional glass of wine or margarita is fine while being social and enjoying time with friends.  In the beginning if you have more severe detox symptoms, probably best to avoid.

Yeah I know this guy. He has no knowledge on anything and also has zero discipline. Can't stay on a diet etc.. You can't expect results if you are able to follow some diet or protocol couple of weeks and after that say fuck it. It doesn't work and start eating junk again.. Anyway accutane is for sure more complicated than just vit A toxicity. So low vit A will not help everyone. It is very individual. For me with my history  low vit A diet for at least 2 years will work I think. For other people it can be issues with severe mineral deficiency or imbalance. I think following hair tissue mineral analysis and their balancing program is very good for this+ water fasting for 7-14 days can be also good. Because it will "reset" the body and after that you can "rebuild" your body with proper nutrition.. Btw I am not even talking about the most important things that should be obvious and mandatory from the beginning. Like taking zero meds or drugs, zero alcohol, every day going to bad ideally before 10 pm. Moving your body, sweating etc.. Now how many people can do even basics like this? Not many right.. No wonder that people can't recover. They can't change their life habits let alone follow some strict diet or program for years.. I am little lucky with this since I have no issues with discipline. Was doing bodybuilding for years so I will do what I need to do.

Some of us are examples of lower discipline folk doing quite well improving quickly with Garrett Smith on nutritiondetective.com

Please do not bother dismissing significance of such folks' severity of toxicity in retinoids and copper.  Dr Smith's first rule is we do what we can even if we know that runs counter to ideal tactics needed to detox.  Each does his own version of the best he can.  For example it took me months before I could find a way to supplement potassium long after it was clear I needed to get potassium into me.  And once I did get some in, it helped.  In the last month I found I can now supplement it along with food and it is amazing how much stronger, faster, smarter, happier and especially better looking I am now.  Besides, I have not had a cramp in the longest time I can remember over the last 40 years.  Life is good.
