I think in my case the sticker prevented the A to leave the skin, I could not wash it off, so it just marinated under there... I dont think I ever had a contact eczema before, yes from nickel as a child. But that did not behave like this one at all.
I just wanted to add that i prioritize organic due to glyphosate, especially grains and animal flesh. If you havent tried that, maybe it could be something to try to see if it helps you
Thank you for the help. I have been eating mostly organic for the last 7 months, not all though. I recently switched form organic black beans to conventional black eyed peas because I can't find them organic where I live. I am trying to reduce oxalates and black eyed peas are low, not sure which might be worse for me right now, glyphosate or oxalates. I don't eat organic bananas either, do you think it is important to though? The beef and rice I eat are organic.
I'm torn black beans: low VA but high oxalate, black-eyed: high VA but low oxalate...
What is the best low VA low oxalate bean to include for fiber 🙂

Quote from lil chick on June 17, 2019, 8:01 amSometimes I think beans are over rated, but then I realize that EVERYONE is different. If you are great on them, maybe they are a super power for you.
I hardly miss them in my diet.
Does anyone else here remember the "blood type diet"? Well, he listed types of beans for each blood type and strangely enough the ones for my blood type were slightly less "badly behaved" for me than other legumes.
My tastes don't warn me against legumes. I like them. They just don't like me. I especially love peanut.
I think about legumes, though, as sort of being "peasant food". There was that old saying, it went something like: "if you bow down to the king you won't have to eat lentils!/if I eat lentils I won't have to bow down to the king!"
Anywho WHO says fiber is good for you? "studies?" I personally think that if you are having trouble with constipation it might not be because of lack of fiber. It might be because your metabolism is sluggish.
One more point on this topic... My great grandmother raised up several centenarians on a very bland diet. VERY. And during the depression too. I think beans were only a sometimes food and NOT eaten for the fiber (friday night beans and franks for example). For fiber, they ate STEWED PRUNES. They were always on the table, and the kids were especially encouraged to eat them when not regular.

I would like to know the same! The lists varies a LOT. i have seen chickpeas and lentils as low/medium and some lists them as high. I love chickpeas. I make patties out of them, with oat flour. They go with everything I eat. Even bananas 😂
High oxalate issue could be why my tooth enamel is so thin, my nails weak and transparent and why I chipped a tooth recently. I have never had cavities though. Maybe extra calcium would be beneficial despite dr G's warnings? Like mortled egg shell?
Oh and thanks so much @orion for the link. @bella I have heard about the yahoo group i have just been too lazy to sign up to check it out 🙈

Thank you for pointing this out. For some reason I though BEP were low in carotenoids/vitamin A. I like the idea of eating more plant foods so I don't have to rely so much on meat - this is a blow to me.

My teeth and nails are rapidly improving (again) on low oxalate.
That’s a bummer about black eyed peas being high in A. I had some just last night and didn’t notice anything negative. My tolerance seems way better now which could be good or bad depending how you look at it. I just need to be mindful and not get lax or carried away with VA since I don’t have any apparent immediate negative effects.

My main carb has been white rice. I’ll look on the list I have from the yahoo group and see if there’s another starch that would work.

I looked over the grains on the list and corn products like polenta and corn flake cereal were very low/low for oxalate but the tests are specific to American brands like Kellogg’s so I’m not sure how that would translate to foods available in other countries?!?
From what I’ve read it’s recommended to stay below about 50-60 grams of oxalate per day (for those concerned) so every item doesn’t have to be low as long as it all balances at the end of the day so to speak. Maybe @bludicka knows more.
