Lutein is problem in lentils.... very high, I didn't know it but fortunately I didn't eat it very often:

Lentil had the highest concentration of lutein (7.348 µg g )

yellow and brown are always suspicious, yellow pineapple high in lutein, flax seeds, einkorn wheat high in lutein

Lima beans - nutrition facts:

https://www.healwithfood.org/nutrition-facts/green-lima-beans-vs-white.php

Black beans are what I eat when I eat beans (which I try not to do lol.  But sometimes the lure of chili does call)...That is the bean that was recommended in the D'Adamo book for blood type O.   They taste like I want beans to taste.

Last night I couldn't eat the butter/sugar corn that my son served me.  It really tasted funny to me!  Like perfume.

I remember as a kid being served succotash and I wasn't really a picky eater but that was THE WORST.  🙂  "Succotash is a culinary dish consisting primarily of sweet corn with lima beans or other shell beans."-the interweb.   I'm thinking my mother's dish had peas and carrots in it along with the corn and limas.  no likey  🙂

How far can our tastes guide us?  Some people love limas.  ?    (really?)    Others, not so much hahaha.

That must be why lentils usually cause massive GI discomfort in some people!

I wonder which kind of lentils. There are red, green, black, yellow lentils. I am not taking chances. Avoid all!

I have not been myself today. So tired, fell asleep in front of PC while working several times throughout the day. I have not done that in 3 years!!! Have had brain fog, poor memory and a bit more irritated than usual. Am craving chocolate like a mad person. And everything buttery. Preferably as mashed potatoes or cake.

green lentils: lutein 748 mcg/100 g, zeaxanthin: 46 mcg/100 g, vitamin A 25 IU/100 g

brown lentils: lutein 818 mcg/100 g, zeaxanthin: 49 mcg/100 g, vitamin A 12 IU/100 g
It's a lot for someone on a low vitamin A diet, e.g. green peas has lutein+zeaxanthin 2593 μg/100g, pumpkin 1014 μg/100g.

Oh! I had brown lentils last week and my stomach reacted really badly. Sore and bloated etc. Other times I've eaten them I haven't had that.

Now I know to really avoid eating them. Thanks!

Might have been the yellow or red kind tested in the "holy shitballs" study then. I couldn't find which kind in the study. Sloppy science 😂

Here are tested french green lentils, red lentils and green lentils, all have similar lutein content, red the highest:

https://www.e-sciencecentral.org/upload/pbb/pdf/pbb-05-192.pdf

cooked oatmeal 421.2μg in 1 cup and I like millet (not all types are goitrogenic), millet is yellow and has less than oat: 121.8μg in 1 cup
interesting comparison:
eggs vs. oatmeal, almost the same lutein+zeaxanthin intake "Consuming Two Eggs per Day, as Compared to an Oatmeal Breakfast" (plus eggs have animal retinol):
