I'm glad Dr Smith exists!

I think it is interesting how much talent and smarts and wisdom hang around on this site and I'm thankful to be here.

I also think that the differing points of view are very important.

Agreed, there any many factors that are going to affect speed of recovery, some impacts may be permanent, and we should not expect a quick fix.

I said "in a timely manner" though, not fast or quick.  What I meant was, at what rate should we expect people to be recovering?  I don't think we have a good answer to that yet, but if people are on a "detox" diet for over a year and still not seeing major improvement (possibly like @are), how effective is that detox diet really?  Is it that the person is applying the wrong diet for their particular health problem, is it that the diet is not very universally effective for the health problem it's aimed at, or is it that there is no way to recover any faster?  (Could be all of the above)

There is a world of difference between being on a detox diet and actually detoxing well. The two things are sadly not always synonymous. It would be a lot easier if they were.

RE: how effective is that detox diet really?

Yes. I fully agree. The detox diet is, at best, working very slowly. And for some people it appears to be not working at all. Unfortunately, using this dietary intervention is all we really have available at this time.

I know we need to find a better approach. Possibly some kind of antidote, or maybe using plasmapheresis, etc. I’m sorry, I don’t have any great suggestions.

But, it’s not all bad news here either. Some people are making good progress.

In my own personal situation, I was extremely sick when I started.  So, when I made a significant recovery (just not dying anymore) in the two years I was pretty satisfied with the result. And, for whatever reason, I did not go into a detox setback cycle (at least not of any major significance).

But, because I was coming off absolute rock bottom, relatively speaking, the improvements that I experienced in the first two years felt huge.  However, I still wasn’t in great shape either. What surprised me is that I’ve continued to see some additional improvements in each year since.

So, maybe the realistic timeframes are more like 5+ years for adults (who are starting out sick) to get back into really good health.

You’re correct; we can’t expect people to put up with following this limited-boring diet for such a long time.  I’m all ears for suggestions on new approaches.

Thanks

Dr Smith is great, he even realized that vit D supplements are of more harm than good. Judging by his videos he is still herxing though .. err I mean "detoxing". 😉 😀
