Quote from Jiří on November 21, 2021, 4:18 am@tim-2 I was reading some of your posts on RPF about dairy and I think I will stop with goat kefir for now. 😀 I think the benefit of high amount of probiotic is smaller than negatives especially for the liver and I have to be nice to my liver.. Hopefully vit D3(5000iu a day) with K2(180mcg of mk7) will be enough to help absorb more calcium from my low calcium diet.. I think kefir is great especially from goat milk. There is different type of caseine in goat milk, there is no lactose + the caseine is somewhat hydrolyzed by the bacteria so it's really easy digestible, but because it's full fat goat milk(low fat is not available) there is good amount of highly bioavailable retionol + the formaldehyde or whatever from the fermentation process and the hormones especially prolactin and estrogen also doesn't help my liver.. It's actually good amount of stress for the liver and detox system overall. Btw what you think about good quality whey protein isolate where is basically no fat, lactose or caseine? THere shouldn't be any hormones as well.. Is it still problematic? If yes I will eat what I have left and stay on just grain, legume, meat diet..

Haha I hope I'm not too biased against it but I don't think so.
My gut health is so much better since I followed a herbal SIBO protocol and continued with a low vitamin A diet and I haven't had any source of probiotics in my diet since then at all. No probiotic supplements, yoghurt, kefir or sauerkraut at all. Intestinal flora is very diverse and complex and very different from that found in fermented foods anyway so I'm very skeptical that these foods really help probiotic wise. If someone has SIBO I think probiotics are counterproductive.
I think for many people large amounts of dairy in the diet is unwise but you could just consume small amounts of kefir if you believe it to have health benefits.
In terms of calcium think about pacific islanders and how big they are without dairy products in the diet. Perhaps they eat some fish bones but fish bones aren't really edible unless you're eating canned fish. I haven't noticed any problems from consuming a low calcium diet for years. Once one has finished growing I'm skeptical one needs much calcium in the diet. My understanding is that the body conserves calcium and has more mechanisms to do so more than with magnesium or potassium.
I'm very supplement averse now and wouldn't personally take K2, if I took D3 it would be very conservatively.
Someone asked me about whey on the RPF as well. I don't really know tbh. It may still contain plenty of estrogen. I can't see how it's a better alternative to just eating enough meat, chicken etc in the diet.

Quote from Jiří on November 21, 2021, 8:27 am@tim-2 I use whey into my oats or polenta as protein source. I don't want to eat oats and meat for breakfast.. 😀 and also it's very easy on digestion, it is less acidic etc.. Btw pacific islanders would have really high sun exposure, so I think it's balanced this way.. But people that have no sun light? Hard to tell..
