My bad.

I meant to say that it doesn't make sense to me that people shouldn't take any LA if they aren't willing to do that.

I do think that microdoses throughout the day similar to what you are suggesting may be optimal though. One potential way to get the benefits of frequent small doses without the hassle is to use liposomal LA.

When I get around to researching LA more I'll let you know my updated thoughts on all of this. If you have an article that gives references or specific physiological mechanisms for why taking LA once per day can be counterproductive please post it.

@tim-2 I just know that I felt really bad taking ALA. I think it depends on your metal toxicity load. I had a lot probably due to bad iodine, selenium deficiency as a kid and once they put amalgams into my mouth I just crashed with skin, gut and and all kinds of issues.. Someone who never had such a bad imbalance in the body maybe can be ok even taking it once a day..

Oh dang, I ordered over years worth of alpha tocopherol from iHerb and they've already sent it. Maybe I should've bought a mixed e supplement. Too late now, there goes over 100€.🙁 I might order a mixed e when Black Friday sales start and just take them both until I run out of the alpha form and then just buy the mixed version after that.

How do you feel your liver function, bile flow and gut function is now compared to when you last tried LA? Maybe at some point you might be more ready to try some low dose LA again?

@arket

The vitamin E product I am using is Carlson Tocomin Suprabio. I looked at all of the full spectrum vitamin E products on iHerb and that is my pick. It's an extract of red palm oil so it contains some carotenoids but it contains all 4 tocopherols and all 4 tocotrienols and it's relatively low dose.

After looking through iHerb's vitamin E section, my choice would be now this from LEF, Gamma E Mixed Tocopherols And Tocotrienols, 60 softgels - Life Extension. I don't think that taking just alpha tocopherol is completely unnatural since sunflower seeds have >90% alpha tocopherol.

My bile flow is still the same which means really bad.. I think it is due to stress. The place where I live and everything about my life here. The body is on the edge all the time so no wonder it can't function properly..Now I know that diet or supplements don't matter if I don't change my living situation.. So for now I will just save some money and next year I will move out somewhere where my body can really relax..

The study is a good reminder of how beneficial vitamin E is. I think it also thins the blood and chelates iron, there's probably many different modes of action. It's a double-edged sword. I think 800 IU is a really high dose, and over months you could easily become anemic. If there's too much vitamin E in a capsule and it's dissolved in oil, it can be rubbed on the wrist or belly button, both spots have a good absorption rate, but still lower than through the intestines. I generally prefer topical application because it doesn't irritate the stomach, which happens with some supplements, like vitamin B1, which is sulfur based. For vitamin B1, I add 50g to a bathtub of hot water and take a bath.

@jiri When you go shopping, do you pay attention to whether your food is organic or not? I think glyphosate is a huge problem, and it's not even completely avoidable if you buy organic because the wind blows some of the herbicide to neighboring fields. I've noticed health improvements since I've been religious about buying organic.

No I don't have money to buy "organic" or "bio". For example "bio" chicken costs here like 4 times much as normal chicken.. But I do't eat basically any vegetables that can be loaded with chemicals or a lot of grains. I eat mainly meat, white rice and other things in smaller amounts.. If I could I would definitely buy only in organic shops, but that is not my reality now.. Also like I said I have other more significant issues than eating non organic foods.. But enough about me this is Tims log.. 🙂
