Quote from lil chick on July 22, 2019, 5:44 amKeero I see you started in March (I started in May). Couldn't the body still just be working things out in the sinus areas for you? I bet it is hard work for the body. For me, it's my nose itself, not my sinuses. Also inner ears.
I had a bad "nose night" last - whew. itchy/hurty
My ears feel slightly more or less blocked some mornings.
I too didn't eat the best I could have yesterday! 🙂 Oh well, we have to live too. (I had white pizza (no tomato, but cheese) and red wine (alcohol stirs my pot too much, I avoid lately, but I do want to add red wine back, I think it is healthful for me in other ways) ) I also experienced body itching.

Quote from Keero on July 22, 2019, 7:21 amIs that not all fundamentally sinus related though?
I would say I became conscious of all the vit a I was consuming at this time yes, but really getting onto a completely vit a free diet has been a gradual progress. You are right, we have to live and guilty pleasures once or twice a week probably don't hurt too much.
Although, I think there is something to be said about adopting Grant's approach and having amazing discipline to go 0 VA at always.
Yes I think substituting the cheese for wine would be a great idea. Good luck.
More updates to come over the next few months

Quote from Pinetreefire on July 22, 2019, 3:20 pmQuote from Keero on July 21, 2019, 2:06 amWoke up this morning to my left sinus being clogged. They have been better over the last few months but not 100%, but now this morning one is clogged up.
I think this must be related to my liver as last night I ate a large meal (rice, beef, beans, onions etc) and fell straight to sleep. Earlier in the day I did munch some cookies and lollies.
So I guess all the sugar, fat and poor eating schedule overloaded my liver and this is perhaps how I see that play out.
Has anyone had sinus issues that they can relate to vit a and an over burdened liver? I've been trying to find a scientific link but only get so far as what I can see and then perhaps Chinese meridians tie in slightly.
I have had chronic sinusitis for 3.5 years now. Constant pressure behind my eyes, forehead, nose and cheeks non-stop. Verified through MRI scan.
I have tried a lot of different things, nothing have worked. This is in addition to blurry vision, vertigo, anxiety etc. Basically all the symptoms on the chronic vit A toxicity symptom list.
Been on low vit A diet for over 7 weeks now, no change in symptoms except less dry skin. Thinking this is my problem though. Have a history of accutane, paleo diet (huge amounts of eggs, meat, full fat dairy). I also think I was born vit A toxic because I have had weird symptoms my whole life.

Quote from Keero on August 19, 2019, 12:24 amHave been taking large doses of vitamin C, about 15 grams a day, over the past week and it has definitely stirred something up.
I've been itchy all over this last week in all the usual places. I haven't had this problem since right at the start of eliminating VA. On top of that, wasn't able to sleep last night, which was odd as spent the whole day working hard yesterday.
Hoping it all subsides soon

Quote from Jenny on August 19, 2019, 1:53 amHi Keero I was sorry to read about your recent symptoms. 15g is a lot of vitamin C. Did you increase slowly or all at once? If you did it suddenly I think that could well be the reason for your decline.
In nutritional therapy school we were taught that with all new supplements the best way to reduce reactions is to go ‘low & slow’ - so small increases over a period of weeks until you reach your desired level. I’d personally go back to your previous level of vitamin C & wait until symptoms subside & only then start to increase. Hate to see anyone suffering anymore than is necessary.
Best wishes Jenny

Quote from Keero on August 19, 2019, 7:43 amYes probably increased a bit too fast. Just jumped straight in. Although the bioavailability of what I took is only a fraction of the consumed dose.
Still, you are right, will go slow from now on. Still very intriguing to see it stir up VA.

This lecture posted elsewhere here makes some very persuasive points.

Quote from tim on August 19, 2019, 2:59 pmI noticed her make a number of fallacious points which doesn't surprise me for someone that recommends elderly take 2 grams per day. She admits to taking up to 30 grams per day, she totally lost me there. Most of the lecture covers why Vitamin C is so important, definitely no convincing argument about why we need more than the rda.
She points out that collagen production uses a lot of Vitamin C, this is why chicken stock, chicken on the bone and jelly are very beneficial parts of the diet. These foods contain hydroxylated amino acids which help produce collagen without the need for Vitamin C. I doubt she even knows this.
