Tackling the Detox setback by Grant Genereux

@puddleduck Thank you very much for explaining and giving a lot of ideias, it means a lot. I will sure follow where my body takes me feeling close my intuition and what works in the meantime. I did have one practitioner that I worked with trying to solve my problems but he wasn't good enough to understand the complexity of the human body and how it can really cause a havoc in the system if the root cause is not found. so in my region here in South America it's really difficult to find someone who truly can help, even if the practitioner is some kind of a specialist in his area, they are just not up to date with the intricacies of problems and how to deal with them. it's always treating symptoms and whatnot. I'm aware of the coffee enemas @alexm was mentioning in other threads, it's a possibility that I put on hold in case I need it, but I want to take the ''natural''path before and see if my body can restore itself naturally, but it's definitely a option. Since the first time that I was encountering these symptoms that I mentioned I always thought that only carbs and fiber could be the culprit for a state of dysbiosis, so in a sense I was hugely biased by information, as much so that that's the reason I ate a diet high in protein and fat for so long, in fear of carbs.

@pattycake I'm not aware of these probiotics, I could give it a try as well, but the thing is, I think my major problem is things not moving properly, so when things are all slowed down it's difficult to achieve homeostasis in the body, I could treat sibo and pathogens, but if things are not moving, there's always a comeback. Pooping is essential.

@donald I've seen this reuteri yogurt here in the forum, my only obstacle to do it was that I don't have a good source of milk nearby, but if it is possible to do with the regular processed milk of the market, I could try. I only have to see if I can find this reuteri strand to buy online. it may be helpful, thank you for mentioning.

@dom

I am also wishing that you are able to solve your constipation!

I know nothing of colonoscopy but I thought to suggest it in case you might have a physical obstruction in the colon; like colon cancer. You have probably already read the latest progress report by Orion that briefly talks removal of polyps in the colon:

RE:

Now if you've read my recent posts it's no secret that I now believe hypervitaminosis A was NOT my main issue (a main reason is cutting it out did NOTHING); BUT if you believe Vitamin A is the poison that it is, I should have experienced some health benefits but the only "benefit" I experienced was a lowering of my cholesterol. That could be explained by cutting out saturated fats not vitamin a reduction. The lowering of my blood pressure was immediately after I stopped CLO, too soon to be the results of VA reduction. I'm not a big believer in cutting out wide swaths of food (pork, fish, spices, greens, cheese and yogurt, onions and garlic...there's probably more) in the name of VA reduction anymore. In my case, it was useless and ineffective at best.

I am not sure I agree with your logic here. Just because your health took a nosedive during the first six months of your vitamin A detox diet does not mean that vitamin A is beneficial or toxic. In my opinion, and Jenny has expressed this before, vitamin A excretion is such a taxing process on the detoxification pathways that it may actually be better not to start a vitamin A detox unless choline is replenished. So perhaps your dismal experience with the low vitamin A diet is more indicative of a choline deficiency? And even choline may not be the easy fix, it's not in my case. I'm open to the idea of EFAs that you've brought to my attention, I'm eager to hear more about your experience and will be watching closely. As an aside, I actually slept better when I was on a Ray Peat-inspired diet (when the diet actually seemed to work). Also, I'm not saying that vitamin A is a problem for you. I just wouldn't jump to conclusions if I were you. But then again, you did say you wouldn't touch liver or carrots again. So maybe the answer really is just a balanced diet, as Andrew suggests? This is definitely where my head starts to spin. So many open questions.

I was thinking about all of this, and how it makes you feel like The Gods Must Be Crazy.

High cholesterol:  avoiding cholesterol foods doesn't help

Diabetes:  as Grant has explained, sugar and carbs probably didn't lead to it, and dropping them might not solve it

Overweight:  low-calorie regimen often leads to higher weight in the long run

Fatty liver:  low fat diet probably going to backfire

Protein in urine:  as Grant wrote about, very bad idea to remove protein from diet

Vitamin A toxic?   Oxalate toxic?    Feel worse when you cut back and the body starts attempting detox but you are still unable to rid yourself of the toxins, which is probably one of the reasons you are toxic in the first place

High vitamin A:   could it be that a vitamin A food (egg) is of help?  why not, LOL!

It seems in many cases the issue that you search for answer to... is a symptom of something else.  You are looking HERE but the answer is THERE

If these problems were easy, they would have been sorted out long ago.   These are deep puzzles.

How do we know if choline is replenished or missing? Does it matter if eggs are boiled or fried? I had diverse experiences with eggs, the last time it looked like they were giving me vit A toxicity symptoms, but I may try again.

@grapes There would be signs of choline or acetycholine deficiency. Lack of digestive regularity, poor absorption of supplements, high leakiness, lack of parasympathetic activity, constant anxiety, fatty liver and short term forgetfulness being a few likely signs. What is Choline? Big Benefits & Signs of a Deficiency - Dr. Axe (draxe.com)

I lightly fry the eggs. I also bake with them. Choline seems quite stable to me.

Thanks @andrew-b, I will read the link. I think I have at least those : lack of parasympathetic activity, constant anxiety (at some degree), short term forgetfulness.

@grapes Some more signs of acetylcholine deficiency shared with me by Jenny. Note also thiamine deficiency can be a factor here too.  Acetylcholine: How and Why to Optimize the Synthesis of this Vital Neurotransmitter (peirsoncenter.com)

Hi all, I am new to the website....so I apologize in advance if I ask questions that have already been addressed on the website somewhere.

For various reasons that I'll delve into if needed, my wife and I (and 4 children) recently started lowering vitamin A intake...after years of high intake including cod liver oil years ago, and beef liver more recently.

I've been on and off various supplements for years now, and a couple I've tried fairly recently are TUDCA and ox bile, and I've found them very beneficial. And to me, it makes sense that they would help with vitamin A detox in that they would 'get things flowing' (get the bile moving).

However, I get the sense that others on the website might suggest against it for fear that it could be 'too much'. So my questions:

  • Is my comment accurate? (that most suggest against means to get the bile flowing quickly (maybe too quickly?))
  • Or, on the contrary has anyone else used these supplements and suggests them as part of the vitamin A detox protocol?

Thanks in advance for your time and comments

hello @mike-2

While I haven't gotten around to trying tudca/ox bile, if it's working for you then you can keep on using it. If you haven't already, I suggest you check out Garret Smith's program. I regret not doing so sooner, but at least I got to independently discover most of his findings, so it's clear that he knows what he's talking about. That's where most of us are, and the people there are more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
