@diogenes  If you are able, could you provide a clip to the Joe Rogan show you mention?

Here's the clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEe7PrUlYSA

Here's the full episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5o9b2RVC2E

It appears to me that ligaments might be shrunken over time and some of this posture change might not be that easy to overcome with just changing habits.  But don't stop trying!

This is an example of what I mean.    The "prayer sign" (bent pinky fingers etc) is associated with auto-immunity.   I have it.  It isn't like I have a choice to straighten those fingers any more.  The ligaments have become shorter.  (Grant says his fingers have straightened with lower VA).

That being said, I AM trying very hard to keep my chin level to the floor and imagine the back of my head being pulled up with a string.  I also try to imagine my "wings" pulled back ward (because I also think the shoulders are rolling too forward).  I saw a bunch of 20-somethings at a restaurant, and all had their shoulders rolled forward, every one.

The star gazing position is the one you describe. It is a sign of Thiamine Deficiency.

See this thread https://ggenereux.blog/discussion/topic/thiamine-story/ which includes a reference to Dr Lonsdale's book.

In the book about Breath, the author does not at all bring up the subject of Thiamine Deficiency, nor of Vitamin A Toxicity, but I have linked the two from personal experience.

So, are you saying that when you do a vA detox, more vA comes into your blood (like out of your fat stores?) and then you get a clinical thiamine deficiency?

Yes, I think so. And I think that partially I accumulates VA in my body because I ate a lot of foods containing thiaminases. I was lowering my thiamine stores AND adding loads of VA/carotenoids. The results were terrible.

This is new to me, what foods are you avoiding now regarding thiaminases, @ourania?  I feel the same way about egg whites and biotin, that possibly, an egg a day is much better for you than 6 a day (because egg white has avadin)

@lil-chick I used to eat a lot of shellfish and raw fish, sometimes in sushi form (this brings up betacarotene because of the algae).

Blueberries too. And sun bathing a lot, which destroys Thiamine. Ok for a while because you make VD out of your VA, but at a point you collapse into beriberi.

I wonder if the sudden onset of beriberi is not related to VA. Maybe this surge of VA without Thiamine able to process it would be the factor.

This is related to @dan comment about VA release in the blood at midday.

wow!   thank you @Ourania,  I wish I could trust supplements, LOL.   I think I really am low on the B's.   I had a bad night after a huge slice of blueberry pie... a bad night after shrimp salad too...holy crap!  Is this a Garret Smith thing?

I just want to simply cut back on VA and not take supps or study experts but maybe I need more help.

@lil-chick No it is not a Garrett Smith thing. It is my own theory but it seems to work for me.

@diogenes

Mouth taping at night is really the most basic thing if you are already out of balance. I dont need to do that but for many many people it is literally an "overnight" life changer.

Basically, it is important to understand how much mouth breathing is bad and nose breathing is necessary, how much overbreathing chronically (volume, liters per minute) is bad, etc.

Then it is important to understand why nitric oxide and CO2 are most essential to health and why having low CO2 will make your tissues and brain starve from oxygen deficiency (it is not a typo, Bohr effect).

It is also important to know about a few "curative" techniques such as Buteyko, Wim Hof (derived from tummo), etc.

Then it is important to understand the power of the "complete yogic breath" I outlined in another of my posts.

This book will explain you all of that and more. Of course you have many more advanced breathing techniques but they are more for spiritual unfoldment than health (which are linked up to a point). I wish to emphasize that breathing techniques are not sufficient for a proper spiritual unfoldment but a good help.

To answer your basic question, I practice Tibetan dream and sleep yogas among other and know well all those breathing patterns so I dont need to tape my mouth at night because my mouth remains closed but for many many people that is a powerful first step and will quickly change your life for the better by dramatically increasing your whole-body-oxygenation. As far as I can remember I have not been ill for all those 20+ years. Breathing well will change absolutely everything positively in your body and mind. The importance of good breathing patterns and nose breathing cannot be overemphasized. It has always been a "sacred" science before the advent of modern profit-making "science". If you ever see a true "miracle" big chances are it will be related to breathing.

I could write a thousand pages about breathing patterns and their effects but the best is simply to buy that very easy to read book and apply the advices given as soon as you can then see the results by yourself. Breath is Life, as simple as that.

Best Regards,

Dino

@dino
I would love your opinion on cloth masks.  (I don't mean in terms of covid and the whole issue of do they help or not.  I don't want to open up that can of worms.)  I mean in terms of breathing.  It's a few years since I read about Buteko breathing and I remember various methods of training your breathing to increase your CO2 and therefore improve your oxygenation.  I've heard much critisim of masks saying that they increase CO2 and am wondering if in the case of a chronic overbreather whether that might actually be a good thing and not a bad thing.

Would wearing a cloth mask help increase your CO2 and help increase your oxygenation?  I got into trouble practising buteko method.  I don't know why or how but I ended up with acute gut pain and stopped.  Maybe I went at it too hard or did something wrong, I'm not sure.  I was just thinking if a cloth mask would be a gentle way of favourably changing the amount of CO2 that it might be something I could try.  Would it be a way of creating a slight air hunger?  Do you have any thoughts on the matter?

Thanks

I know I'm not Dino, but if we work hard to detox through the breath, then how could re-breathing it be good?  I'm fine in my (very loose) mask, though, until I have to do some light exercise (like moving heavy things) or have a hot flash and then I WANT TO RIP IT OFF.    My intuition at that point is: NOPE.  ;0    Sometimes I also think that masks themselves are polluted, for instance, a scarf from your drawer cleaned with laundry detergent.
